Simon Roloff

Hey 👋 I write, research, and teach at the intersection of text and algorithms. My aim is not only to understand artificial intelligence through media theory, but to transform it through artistic practice. I am currently visiting professor for Media Aesthetics at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, where I also led the research project code/verstehen (with Hannes Bajohr). I am also Senior Lecturer at the Institut für Sprachkunst at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. I am a member of the DFG research network Das Wissen digitaler Literatur (The Knowledge of Digital Literature). Previously, I was Junior Professor for Literary Studies and Creative Writing at the University of Hildesheim and Fellow at MECS. I studied Cultural Studies and Philosophy at HU Berlin, Creative Writing at the German Literature Institute Leipzig, and earned my PhD from Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. My latest book Digitale Literatur: Zur Einführung was published by Junius in 2024.
